Hi, I’m M. Kay

I spent countless years trying to be a novelist, but every time I attempted to write a book, I could never bring myself to finish it. I had good ideas, but I would get bogged down in the details. Then I would get frustrated and give up. It was an endless cycle. Finally, I just gave up altogether.

Then, a few years ago, I had a heart attack and died. Luckily, I was in the emergency room at the time, and the doctor was able to revive me. When I finally got out of the hospital, I went home and did nothing. I couldn’t work anymore. I couldn’t even go outside and work in the garden. I have never been so bored. I had way too much time on my hands, and ultimately, decided to give writing another try. You’ll never believe what happened. You guessed it. The exact same thing that always happened...I got bogged down in the details and gave up again, but not entirely.

I’ve always loved Greek mythology, and as a result, I decided to write a play because you don’t need to know when a certain flower should bloom or what shoes the characters should wear. None of that is important in a play. You just have to know about your characters. Would you believe, I actually finished something? I did. To be honest, I was surprised, too.

Soon after, I wrote my first play, followed by my second play. Now I’m about halfway through my third play, and once I finish that, I might try to do another novel, or maybe I’ll just write a new play. I don’t know yet. We’ll see what happens. In the end, it doesn’t matter to me if it is the best play or novel ever written. All that matters to me is that I keep getting better with each new project I write, and I will. I promise.
